I have completed another day of doing about 80 minutes of yoga in the morning. I think I am seeing improvements, and not just in my flexibility and strength (although that area is improving, too). I have been a little less antsy and high strung lately. And my approach to food is slightly shifting. I often overthink what I should eat at different times of the day. I couldn't even tell you when the last time was that I had a sandwich with regular sandwich bread (not sandwich thins or other option) for my weekday lunches. The past two weeks have been different! This week I actually had peanut butter sandwiches all week and loved them. So much! I have also been enjoying dinners out with more indulgent meals and doing my best to not feel guilty. In the past 2-3, I have managed to find a happy balance with food, but I still have a lot of room for improvement. I am a little strict at times, and I think I am letting go of the control bit(e) by bit(e). Baby steps, my dears, baby steps!
Today I went to Target and bought myself a new digital camera. I wanted something that was small, easy to easy, but had low lighting capabilities. I didn't want to spend more than 300, so I thought I was going to have a very hard time finding something. I went to Target and I immediately fell in love with their SONY Cyber-shot. I love it. Here are some of the photos I have taken:
Yesterday's blondies look even more delicious now.
Good enough to eat! I may have to have one with my nighttime snack!
My flowers are dieing. At least they look gorgeous!
Ginger got a nice little photo shoot. The camera has a bunch of different SCENE modes in it. Including one for gourmet food and one for pets!
She decided to attack the camera wrist strap. Such a pretty pretty kitty. I think she will be making more appearances on this blog from now on.
Stephen and I were leaving for date night when we found this really adorable leaf on the porch. Of course I had to take a picture. New camera = obsession.
We went to The Longhorn Tavern. I actually had never been before, and Stephen wanted a good chicken fried steak, so we agreed it would be perfect. I love to try new places, especially very Texan ones that are casual and low key. This restaurant is everything I wish Texas Roadhouse was. It has animal heads and is very spread out. Very Texas without being cliche or cheesy. Their food is even better and cheaper.
Our meals came with a nice salad.
And we ordered cheese sticks. Definitely our favorite appetizer. Nothing better than cheese fried in batter. Seriously. I love them dipped in marinara sauce. I think they are mostly a cheesy vehicle for the sauce.
Stephen ordered a large chicken fried steak. There is more meat underneath the fries. Unfortunately the fries were not very good (I didn't try one). But according to Stephen, the steak was amazing.
I had grilled chicken covered in jalepenos, cheese, and bacon with a baked potato. It was really tasty. The chicken actually was not overdone, which is hard to find in restaurants.
To help you appreciate how large Stephen's chicken fried steak was, I will compare the steak to his bicycle seat.
The chicken fried steak (minus the 1/3 that Stephen ate). The crackers are there for scale.
The bicycle seat. Crackers for scale.
We had Spoons for dessert. I have developed a love affair with the regular tart yogurt flavor. Seriously amazing! I had mine with ranspberries, crushed vanilla wafers, and caramel. Stephen had tahitian vanilla yogurt with kiwi, chocolate chips, and strawberry syrup. Delicious dinner!
Fred hope you had a great Thursday!
Yay to no guilt! Who need guilt?! Im jewish, I get enough guilt!
ReplyDeleteI always like the tart yogurt flavors. The other ones are way too sweet too me. I dont think its an ED thing, but too sweet things kind of overpower the taste.
I think I truly think Iim getting better at yoga is when I find "ease" in it. When i feel like I can effortlessly go in and out of a pose and not even notice how hard my muscle are working.
I hope you go to foodbuzz, let me know what the plan is
I'm jealous of all the Food Buzzers, but looking forward to all the recaps (my only trips this year are for work--to Tennessee and Houston.)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, yay for new cameras and new perspectives! I'm always surprised when I hear you still struggle with food and exercise things at times, as your balance and passion--honoring your body with the enjoyment of food and moderate exercise--shines through. I'm glad you're letting yourself truly enjoy all your experiences.
And I'm also glad Fred and Ginger made another appearance ;)
I am seriously in love with plain, tart frozen yogurt too.
ReplyDeleteAnd anytime you want to come visit me, you are welcome to!!!
